Welcome to Geometry

The fundamental purpose of this course is to formalize and extend students' geometric experience beyond middle grades. Students will explore more complex geometric situations and deeper explanations of geometric relationships while moving them towards more formal mathematical arguments. Important differences exist between this course and the historical approach taken to teaching Geometry.  Close attention should be paid to the introductory content for the Geometry conceptual category found in the high school CCSS. The Mathematical Practice Standards apply throughout each course. Together with the content standards, it is designed to provide students with an experience in mathematics that is coherent, practical, and engages them in the use of logical subject matter that capitalizes on their ability to make sense of problem situations.
