Web 2.0 #3 Google Classroom

Google Classroom is a software tool available to teachers who have Google Apps for Education account. However, no one in my math department was using this application or planning to use it until the school makes the Chrombook Carts available to each math class recently. I started my first trial by setting up a teacher account first and follow the Google for Education step by step to create a AP Calculus AB class. Following by creating a resource page, which posted with class syllabus and back to school night information, I created the first class assignment called Student Information Sheet that is created using Google Doc. Students can edit on the file and submit it when they done by clicking on “Turn in”. Google Classroom has several features that aim to improve efficiency, productivity, and appearance of teaching and learning. Teacher is able to not only keep tracking of the “due time” but also send feedbacks to students for revising and resubmitting before the due time. It provides an opportunity for students to learn to be responsible for their leaning and to improve their overall performance. Students can also monitor their progress by checking on pending tasks, commenting to students and teacher. Although I’m new to Google classroom and I need to explore further (offered in summer session TI-85) in order to feel comfortable to use it, I will definitely recommend my colleagues to integrate this application into their teaching as soon as possible to make the learning more proficiency and timeliness.
